If you love nothing more than a good cleansing balm then listen up! this is for you. I too am partial to using a cleaning balm in an eve, and this fancy little Wild Rose Beauty Balm* from Neals Yard Remedies has been doing the job for a few months now.
I have actually spoken about this a few times on the blog and thought I best review it now before I use it all up. Don't be fooled by the name as this balm doesn't smell anything like rose (which I am extremely happy about!) more of a rich, soothing herbal scent. I can't put my finger on it exactly but it is a smell you're either gonna love or loathe.
The selling point (in my opinion) for this balm is that fact it contains 30% rosehip oil, and we all know how wonderful rosehip oil is. Packed full of omega fatty acids that encourage tissue healing and regrowth as well as well as being incredibly nourishing and plumping on the skin you really can't go wrong massaging this into skin. It just feels so luxurious.
As well as the rosehip oil this does contain beeswax and shea butter, 2 ingredients than are known to block pores and make this aggravating for acne prone skin. However even with me hormonal crazy skin I haven't had a problem with this but I do only use it as a cleanser and not a moisturiser or mask which are suggested uses. As I cleanser I use this as a first step to melt away makeup and prep my skin for a second deeper cleanse with something more suitable. This is a very thick, moisturising oily balm, it does not emulsify with water and you most definitely need hot water and a flannel to remove it or else there will be residue left on your skin. A flimsy muslin cloth will not do ;)
I imagine using this as a mask would be so soothing and nourishing for dry skin, I've been tempted to smooth this on clean skin and see how I get on as it just smells amazing, but I'd rather not risk it. As for price this costs £37 for 50g, which seems pricey but this has lasted me three months so far with near enough daily use and and I'm only just past half way through! definitely worth the pennies for a beautiful, all natural brand that is trying to save our bee's!

ReplyDeletei generally just want an excuse to go to their cute shops; they smell gorgeous, have great service, plus you get a free cup of herbal tea!
This sounds lovely! I haven't tried Neal's Yard products yet because I haven't found them available anywhere where I live but I wish I could give them a try! This sounds like a great product to try out!

i'm glad you have the patience to use a cleansing balm. i konw they can really take all the makeup off but i just dont have the time to go slapping it on and then rubbing it off with a cloth. i much prefer an oil that will just rinse off. but still these looks really nice and makes me curious to give it a try.

This sounds amazing but I'm breakout prone so it may not be the best for me :-( I love their Power Berry moisturiser xx
ReplyDeleteThis sounds amazing! I really want to try this, but I've got the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm on the go at the moment. I'd highly recommend it--especially for you by the likes of our skin parallels.
