Two Super Soothing Masks.

It's Sunday, it's just about autumnal enough to start having hot baths again and all the good TV shows are finally back after summer breaks. Thank god. It's also a great time to indulge in a face mask or two - though really I don't need any excuse for this at all, though Sunday does always seem a little extra fitting.

I have recently been skipping the intense clay masks and exfoliating masks for something a little more gentle on my skin. I felt like I was unconsciously on an all out war with my own skin, constantly attacking it with clay and peel masks to refine and detox, refine and detox! It got to the point where really, these things weren't doing my skin any good, no matter how beautiful and complex the ingredients in the masks were. My skin needed a break.

So obviously a few weeks ago my skin was really inflamed and sore from a painful breakout & I had a good old cry about it on Twitter begging for your suggestions. I got a lot of great advice and recommendations and slapped some full fat natural yoghurt on my face to immediately help calm (thanks for that tip, Katie!) whilst I browsed the product rec's and read a bunch of reviews. I straight away fell for the Blissoma Lavish Loving Recovery Beta-glucan Mask and after a few days deliberating I decided to go for it and hit 'checkout'.

Whilst waiting for my brand new purchase to wing it's way to me from across the ocean (Nuciya's international shipping is the fastest & most affordable I've come across yet for an international store) I was contacted by the wonderful Joanna from Mallow + White who introduced me to her - at the time - not yet launched skincare range. With each product containing no more than 6 ingredients, this capsule collection range consists of 3 face masks and 3 face oils. You can choose from Soothe, Revitalise or Restore with each having their own mask and oil combo. I was of course drawn to soothe and decided on just the mask as I have enough facial oils at the moment to moisturise my entire family for a year.

These two masks together have totally calmed and transformed my skin from stressed to soothed. I haven't used any other masks since and use them in tandem or apart, whatever my skin needs. I like to start with the Mallow + White Soothe Mask first for it's gentle purifying of the skin, it's not tightening and it doesn't suck all moisture from the skin at all. It contains white clay which is super gentle and marshmallow root powder which has strong anti-inflammatory properties. This would be a great clay mask for people with very sensitive or dry skin as it's so soothing but still feels like it's doing something to cleanse.

I follow up with the Loving Recovery Beta-glucan Mask, this is quite the opposite of Mallow + White as it contains a whole host of calming ingredients and it quite complex. The creamy mask is deeply hydrating and contains some fabulous ingredients for calming, including; oat milk, reishi mushroom, cupuacu butter, pumpkin seed oil and a cocktail of soothing herbs.  Once I've used this I don't feel the need to follow up with moisturiser as my skin is perfectly balanced and nourished. It looks calm, feels soft and plump, and I like to think my blemish scars look a little less red.

I may review these masks more in depth when I've used them up (let me know if you would like to know more) as they're fantastic and I'm so happy to have them in my collection for when times are tough and my skin needs help ASAP.

Have you tried anything from Blissoma or Mallow + White?
