I love writing my skincare routine posts as they're always handy for keeping track of what products I'm using and when. It's fun to see the change and what products get repurchased (or don't), we all know I'm a bit of a skincare floozy but for the past few weeks I've had my routine down and thought it was time I shared it with you.
CleanseMy morning cleanser of choice for at least 2 months now, probably even longer, has been the Josh Rosebrook Moisturizing Cleanser. This creamy jelly formula is perfect for my sensitive, often sore and breaking out skin, it heals, soothes and moisturises really well but still leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh - without stripping it clean in the process. I know this is quite the pricey pick but the bottle is deceiving and is lasting me forever, I'm barely at the halfway point yet and use 2-3 pumps daily. You need very little as the gel spreads so easily with a little water, it doesn't foam at all as it's just honey, aloe and oils so you can really enjoy the cleansing experience. Take your time. Massage that face awake with a little love.
ToneNaturally my favourite step comes with plenty of options to choose from. At the moment though I'm really enjoying using both the True Nature Botanicals Pacific Mist and the Holiskin Rose ACV Facial Toner. Both are quite different so it really depends what my skin needs at that moment in time. If it's a little dry or dull I reach for TNB, this contains green and white tea extracts, plus neroli hydrosol, kombucha and star jasmine essential oil. It's a beautiful mist and really perks up my skin, the scent alone is one of my favourites!
If my skin is suffering from congestion, breakouts or other unpleasantries then I pull out Holiskin's toner. This simple mist contains rose water and apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is a bit of a wonder ingredient for our skin and I've wanted to pick up a bottle for so long now but was a little nervous about it. I picked up this mist as a way of introducing myself to it. There's no escaping the vinegar, you really are misting your face with a vinegar (and a hint of rose) scented mist. Luckily the scent doesn't linger and you can be on your way. ACV heals blemishes, decongests, soothes irritation and more so it's an all around great pick for your skin.
TreatIn the mornings I like to mix my serums and oils directly into my moisturiser so that they absorb much quicker and easier. I have quite oily skin at the moment so I try to avoid using oils in the morning. However, I do have one exception: the True Nature Botanicals Balancing Face Oil. This oil has one of the lightest consistency's, it doesn't feel oily in the slightest and sinks into skin really well. I reach for this a few mornings a week when my skin needs extra moisture, especially if I used a clay mask the night before or didn't use a facial oil. I also really like the Antipodes Apostle Brightening Serum, this smells like strawberries and has a lovely water-based formula. I add just 2 drops to my moisturiser to help fade my acne scars during the day. I can't say I have noticed a massive difference using this but every little helps!
MoisturiseThe moisturiser I've been using with the above products is the Elemental Herbology Moisture Milk, a light, almost runny moisturiser that mattifies, combats breakouts and doesn't overwhelm skin. This is an old favourite and a repurchase for me (you may have read my original review a long time ago). I don't think after I have used this up I will repurchase again as I'm not sure it's such a great fit for my skin anymore. I am completely lost as to what moisturiser my skin needs and don't even know where to begin looking, any tips?
