May Lindstrom Skin - The Clean Dirt

I'll be honest with you, this blog post has been in the pipeline for months, MONTHS. Simply because I didn't want to share.. I wanted to keep this treat to myself just a little longer. Granted I have mentioned May & her products a couple of times here and there on the blog, and all green beauty babes know her name... but I always held back my review. Alas it's time, her products are a lot more accessible now in the UK thanks to both Content & Cult Beauty stocking the line and it's only right I share the love so you too can get in on the action.

I remember first coming across the May Lindstrom line and immediately perking up like a little meercat, hel-lo, beautiful miron glass bottles with gold detail, delicious treats, potions and lotions. I need you. May knows how to sell her line, I fell hook line and sinker haha. It sure helps that she understands problem skin, suffering from reactive, sensitive, hormonal acne prone skin she created the line to treat her own skin conditions and aren't we lucky she decided to share, because my skin is exactly the same (not quite as flawless as her's so obviously I need the rest of her line ;)) You just need to take a look at her website and you'll understand. I would love to make an order from her directly and receive a beautiful parcel but yikes customs! maybe one day...

For my first forray into the May Lindstrom world I chose The Clean Dirt. I read so many reviews I could probably recite the ingredients list by heart and even tried a teeny weeny sample from Content (it wasn't even enough for one full use but I was hooked) and not long after I caved and made it mine.
I should probably say The Clean Dirt is a potent cleansing clay, it comes in powder form for you to mix yourself.. there's almost something ritualistic about pulling out this glass bottle a few times a week, mixing the powder and hearing it fizz a little forming a creamy mousse. Then massaging the earthy, spicy clay onto skin. I like to leave it on for a minute or two to dry a little and let all those beautiful active ingredients get to work. Detoxifying clay, healing salt and spices, brightening vitamin C and soothing herbs of marshmallow and calendula.
I experience a warming and tingling sensation thanks to the spices but it isn't painful, even on my extremely sensitive skin, though I do avoid my dermatitis when it flares up as it is so potent. It feels quite "scrubby" as you massage onto skin which I think must be the salt and for this reason I only use it two or three times a week. It really wakes you up in the morning and leaves skin feeling oh so soft but my favourite way to use it is before I get into the shower as I just leave it to do it's thing while I do mine, then stick my face under the water to rinse it all away, fuss free (you will want to avoid white face cloths with this as it does stain.. most of mine are now brown ha!).

The end result is skin that looks and feels awakened. My skin has improved so much in recent months, though I still have a ways to go I feel introducing this has helped oh so much, especially with acne which is pretty much a thing of the past for me and my skin. I also think The Problem Solver (my other love) has helped a lot too, but we'll save that for another day.. I'm not ready to share. I bought my Clean Dirt in February of this year and have used only about a quarter from what I can tell peering into the bottle. You get 200ml and while it's definitely an investment, it's worth making as it will last you such a long time and the ingredients are perfection.
I've also tried tiny samples of The Youth Dew and The Blue Cocoon (like kisses for my dermatitis) which were both beautiful and are obviously on the christmas list!

Have you tried anything from May Lindstrom?

  2. I recently got the clean dirt and I'm yet again impressed by May's products. I feel like I need to collect them all - the ones I've still yet to try are the honey mud and the good stuff. I need more time to save up some money for it!

  4. LOVE the Clean Dirt for my go-to pick me up face scrub, Honey Mud is amazing for a hydrating and softening daily cleanser, her blue cocoon balm is TDF and is perfect for acne prone peeps like me, but my favorites are the Problem Solver (because it literally solves every problem) and the Good Stuff Radiance Oil (for summer and winter hydration straight out of the shower - smells amazing!) . I can't rave about her enough. I've reviewed all of these on my blog and you can see the posts below, if you want :D
