I Caught The Blush Bug. ILIA Tenderly.

If you were to ask me what the most skipped step in my makeup routine was, I would say blusher (& by extension bronzer too ... plus highlighter, basically any kind of cheek action is not my forte). There's just something about blusher that I can't seem to get right. I always feel too overdone, too clownish and too blushing, like I'm persistently embarrassed or something. So unless it's a special occasion or I'm feeling adventurous for clown cheeks I'd often skip this step and go bare-cheeked. It was for the best.

But alas I knew I needed to grow out of this constant fear of blusher and inject a bit of colour into my face, the pale as a ghost look only really looks good on ghosts... Of course there are plenty of wonderful blushers out there in the natural beauty market, I mean an awful lot. But when Beauty Mart had a sale a few months ago and everything was 50% off I was straight in there for some ILIA Beauty, the dream. I already owned one of their Tinted Lip Conditioners and knew I was in safe hands picking a blush - this brand know their colour. In the end I chose a multistick in this beautiful pale pink shade called Tenderly, very fitting I think. My reason being you can't possibly look like a clown with sweet candy pink cheeks... thank goodness I was right!

I am obsessed with this lovely blush, the formula is just right, nice and creamy but it also wont slip and slide off your cheeks, so no worries if you are an oily type. The colour does fade a little during the day but that doesn't bother me much as I never really have the need for touch-ups. The colour itself is the perfect baby pink with blue undertones for the loveliest innocent flush to the cheeks. I took the images above in bright sunlight and it really helps convey just how pale this blush is.
I've also been using it occasionally lightly patted on the lips. The finish is matte but not too drying that it accentuates every flaw, but you will need to exfoliate any dry bits first. It's very highly pigmented that only a little is needed for cheeks or lips so I can sense it's going to last me quite a long time, thank goodness!

You can buy ILIA Tenderly from Beauty Bay, Naturisimo & Being Content aaaand Beauty Mart.

  7. Hi!

First of all, congrats on finishing your degree! I have been reading your blog for months, and I really like it. Your posts are well-written, and you always have a sleek blog design, and amazing pictures. I'm not commenting becaus I want to leave my blog link, but to say 'congratulations for having such a nice blog'.

P.S. I don't wear blush, but it looks beautiful... I wonder if it would work as highlighter for my tanned skin.

  8. Such a pretty colour! I love using blusher if I feel like I'm having a bad day or my skin looks crap, it just perks up your skin! What brush do you use? I love the Real Techniques blush brush - I had been using a smaller more precise brush and it just wasn't working with my blusher and did make me look flustered rather than beautifully blushed, however with a bigger brush it looked so much better!

  9. Lovely shade of pink! I used to wear a lot of blush and then stopped coz I was breaking out on my cheeks. I'm wearing blush now again, but is apply very little and go for peach/coral shades rather than straight on pink coz if just makes me look weird. x
