A Week In Skincare

Two weeks ago I decided to keep a record of every bit of skincare I used for a whole 7 days. Sort of an experiment to see whats actually going on in my routine as it changes quite a lot day by day. I don't have a huge skincare collection, it's probably bigger than the average boots consumer but It's also nothing compared to some people!
This was such a good idea to see what products I actually use and notice the ones I thought I did use but perhaps have forgotten about, I'd definately recommend keeping a skincare diary for a few days, it's interesting to see what products I've been using as I can get stuck in a routine! (It's also handy if you happen to introduce something new that breaks you out!)

I've written out my whole weeks skincare, if you're nosey like me and fancy seeing what I used, I'm a creature of habit in the mornings but apparently at night is when things get iiiiinteresting!

Monday Morning - Nude Purifying Face Wash, Lush Tea Tree Toner, Hydraluron, La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo.
Night - Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm, Una Brennan Purifying Face wash, Lush Toner, Suti Rejuvenate Face Oil mixed with Elemental Herbology Moisture Milk.

Tuesday Morning - Nude Face wash, Lush Toner, Origins Vitazing mixed with REN T-Zone Balancing Day Fluid.
Night - Clarins Extra Comfort Cleansing Cream, Una Brennan Face Wash, REN Resurfacing AHA Concentrate.

Wednesday Morning - Nude Face Wash, Lush Toner, Effaclar Duo & Origins Vitazing
Night - Clarins Extra Comfort Cleansing Cream, Una B Face wash & Clarisonic, Darphin Purifying balm on congested areas and Elemental Herbology Moisture Milk.

Thursday Morning - Nude Face Wash, Lush Toner, Hydraluron, Effaclar Duo.
Night - Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm, Una B & Clarisonic, Lush Toner, Suti Rejuvenate Face Oil, Origins Make A Difference Treatment.

Friday Morning - Nude Face Wash, Lush Toner, Hydraluron, Effaclar Duo.
Night - Elemis Pro Radiance Cream Cleanser x2, Liquid Gold.

Saturday Morning - Nude Purifying Face Wash, Lush Tea Tree Toner, Hydraluron, Effaclar Duo.
Night - Emma Hardie Balm, Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Toner, Elemental Herbology Moisture Milk.

Sunday! Morning - Clarins Extra Comfort Cleanser, Lush Toner, Effaclar Duo
Night - Emma Hardie Balm, Una Brennan Face Wash, REN Invisible Pores Detox Mask, Darphin Purifying Balm.

By Friday I was starting to break out, so tried to combat with Liquid Gold but it definitely did not help. I think it was the Effaclar Duo & that sunday (the 23rd) was the last time I've used it... I'm still suffering from a few cystic acne type blemishes (ugh!) & have quite a few new scars joining me in life now, just great. I'm clearly not the best at this whole skincare routine thing, I just wish for nice skin... hopefully soon?!
I think I'll do another one of these in a few months to see how my routine has changed and see what's stuck around, I think it will be interesting! I was going to link to everything, but then... wow, effort. So I've just linked to the few things I've reviewed in full if you want to read more about them. A quick browse of my blog though and you'll find most things mentioned once or twice! :)

Have you ever/would you ever do something like this?

  1. This is such a good idea! Think I'll start it today. I'm terrible with sticking to the same products when it comes to skin care so this might make me change things up a bit and also work out if a particular product isn't working for me :) xx

  2. This is so interesting! I'm rather curious to try it myself just to see the variation in the products I use.

    1. I found myself choosing things I wouldn't usually, knowing i was keeping this record, it was hard to go about my 'usual' skincare routine!

  3. What a great idea, you genius. In all honesty, mine would be pretty boring considering I use the same things all the time. I'm so bummed we can't get Una Brennan or Hydraluon over here in the states.

P.S. You'll have nice skin soon. I doubt it's not already nice with all this wonderful things you're putting on it.

  10. Great idea! I think mine would be quite similar in the respect that I always tend to use the same products in the morning and then experiment/chop and change more in the evenings. I'll have to give this a go! x

  12. Oh, a very cool post! I'm obsessed with learning about other people's skincare routines. I have to stick to a very regimented (BORING) routine of Cetaphil Gentle Skin cleanser, moisturizer, and prescription acne lotion (one for night and one for day). However, every once in a while I like to give my skin a treat and try a new product!

    Best,
