Tagged: Confessions of a Blogger.

I saw Suzie post 'Confessions of a beauty blogger' last week and thought hey what a great idea! I want to do that too! So here are my answers to the questions... I've called it confessions of a blogger though as to be quite honest none of the questions are beauty related so any blogger can do this tag.

When did you start your blog?
I started Fragmented Splendour on October the 8th, 2011.

Have you had any past online presence before (other blog, YouTube?)
Yes, but nothing related to this blog. I used to love Livejournal (oh dear) & then moved onto Tumblr as you do... both were rather excellent time wasters and easy to become obsessed with. I also started a blog (I cant remember the name.. something to do with strawberries... or cats... or cake) because I wanted to be a lifestyle blogger and blog about the jewellery I made out of clay. It didn't do very well in the 2 weeks I had it.

Why did you start a blog?
I can't remember exactly, I read a lot of blogs at the time and just thought hey! I can do that! I didn't even know beauty blogs existed when I made my blog, I only really read lifestyle/diy/fashion blogs.

When did you become serious about starting a blog/blogging?
When I got my DSLR for my birthday last year I was immediately more focused and inspired to start blogging more often, I think the pictures are a big part of my blog and I'm always learning how to make them better. Luckily I always get a lot of compliments on that so yay!

What was your first post?
It was titled 'Hello!' and just had a few short paragraphs of ramblings about me and the name of my blog, not exactly ground breaking. My second post was more of the same and the third post was one about the good things cleansing wipes?! WHAT. I did not realise this, I am appalled. Thankfully blogging has taught me how to cleanse my face properly.

What has been your biggest challenge about blogging?
I think the biggest challenge I've had is trying to remain calm over every small detail. I just want my blog to be perfect (to me) and there's always something I'm not happy with, either the layout or my photography... or the fact a post didn't get that many comments that time or my traffic is rubbish lately. There are so many things and obstacles to overcome that writing a post can actually seem like a tiny detail in the larger scheme of things. How silly.

Where do you see your blog in one year?
Hopefully, continuing to be my favourite hobby, maybe even more than that. I looked back exactly a year ago in my archives and I was just beginning to post more about beauty and probably had about 50 followers so I'm rather proud of the way things have grown in a year, hopefully I can feel the same next year! :)

What is the most rewarding thing to you about blogging?
Having readers! I'm not joking... the fact that you like my blog enough to even think about clicking that follow button makes me smile to no end! so thank YOU! Every comment and click is like a little hug to me.

What is the most discouraging thing that happens to you?
I don't think I have personally had anything discouraging happen to me from blogging... nothing hater related. I think that comes with bigger blogger/YouTube territory and I'm nowhere near that level of 'success' to be hated over something silly like this.

What's your lasting inspiration or motivation?
My favourite blog of all time has to be A Beautiful Mess... the first blog I ever followed and still check daily. Emma & Elsie are power houses of inspiration and loveliness. I've learnt so much from their posts, whether it's DIY's, recipes or tips on photography.. they have it all. I just want my blog to be like that one day, is that too much to ask? ;)

  1. I would love a DSLR camera, I find it improves the quality of a post so much. I hate my camera and find my photos don't look as good. I'm saving up for a DSLR.

  2. This was fun to read, it's great to get to know you a bit more, please do more posts like this one Annable : ) xx

  3. Loved reading this and getting to know a bit more about you and your blog :) you have nothing to worry about in terms of photography and layout - they're both beautiful! Xx.

  4. Lovely post! Great to know more about you!
    Fashion Ganache.

  5. The next time I read a blog, Hopefully it does not disappoint me just as much as this one.
After all, Yes, it was my choice to read through, however I really believed you'd have something useful to say. All I hear is a bunch of complaining about something that you could fix if you weren't too busy seeking attention.

  6. Greetings! Very helpful advice within this post!
It's the little changes that make the most important changes. Thanks a lot for sharing!
