Paul Mitchell Extra Body Take Home Kit

Paul Mitchell are a brand that I'm really drawn towards lately, I love the fact that they are completely cruelty free and even pulled out of china when the animal testing law first came into effect. There's a salon I pass on my way into uni that has a huge Paul Mitchell poster in their window with a giant leaping bunny logo on front and center... and it makes me smile each time. I love a bunny logo.

When I got my hair cut a good few weeks back I knew I needed to start looking out for volumising products or else my thick heavy hair looks an awful flat mess. I was a little unsure where to start, especially as volumising products are usually aimed at fine hair! I've since picked up one or two bits here and there to test the waters so to speak, including getting this handy little kit from Paul Mitchell! The 'Extra Body' Take Me Home Kit contains 3 generous samplings from the Extra Body range, perfect for testing out or going away on holiday.

Having now tried all 3 I can safely say my favourite out of the lot is the Daily Boost Root Lifter, I've been using this almost daily to add a little oomph to the root area and found it to really make a difference. I use this on damp hair then give my hair a quick blast of heat as it's usually almost dry anyway by the time I get around to doing anything with it. And boom, Volume. The finishing spray is not something I've been all that bothered about as like I said I already have thick hair and don't need much volume through the lengths. That being said though it's good for adding a bit of texture if used very sparingly.

The shampoo is a funny one, am I the only one that doesn't notice much of a difference when using volumising shampoos? Again this is on more suitable for fine hair, so I think that must be the reason why. When I was reading the reviews of this here on Look Fantastic nobody has a bad word to say, and neither do I, it's a lovely shampoo, I just don't see incredible volume. Ah well, you win some you lose some! If you have fine hair I think this kit would be perfect for you if you're in need of a boost! I love tester kits like these as you can try without a big commitment and see what works for you. I've definitely found that Paul Mitchell is a brand I want to try more from!! ;)

Can you recommend anything else from Paul Mitchell?

  1. Daily Boost root lifter sounds really good, I always struggle with flatness in my roots so it would be good to get a little volume in there!

    1. I've found it really helps without making my hair sticky or crunchy :)

  2. Oooh I've been wanting to try Paul Mitchel for a while I might have to take the plunge :)

  3. I've been hearing many great things about PM but haven't tried anything from them yet ^^ Glad you're enjoying some of their products xx

  4. I'm devoted to Paul Mitchell hair products and I've used almost all different types of shampoo and conditioner from moisturizing to strengthening to awapuhi wild ginger to blonde. But the extra-body line is one I haven't used for some reason! I may have to try it out at some point.

  5. ive never been a fan of volumizing shampoos either - anything 'volumey' never works!

  6. I didn't know that Paul Mitchell were cruelty free and whatnot before reading this post! I'll definitely be checking out their range soon! :)
