Art Weekend #1. Me & My Face.

I'm not one for sharing photo's of myself, it makes me feel a bit ill if I'm honest. I'm just lacking that thing called confidence (I think it should come in pill form, I'd take 2 a day). I just don't think I'm all that photogenic, pretty, camera ready, whatever you call it. Funny considering the thing I blog about most is beauty, I guess that's because that's something I'd like to have. Just being honest.. I'd love to blog about a pretty lipstick and show myself wearing it, but that gives me the heeby jeebies, what if you all just left nasty comments about my glasses and bad skin? Blogging is fickle and I've noticed you have to be considered "good looking" to get anywhere these days. Sad.

Anyway, last semester I did my project based around identity, and looked a lot into whether or not it's possible to erase your identity. This was a 3 month long project and my final piece was a guess who board game with my fellow students as part of the game, yeah! These images are from some experiments I did during it, looking at actually erasing my face from an image to remove my identity, did it work? probably not. I discovered though that it's so much easier to have your photo taken when you know your face will end up covered. I could pull stupid faces, not pay attention and blink to my hearts content because nobody would ever see my face.

Confidence is something I'm working on this year, so you might see more pictures of my mug on your nice computer screen (hopefully... sorry in advance!). :)

Does blogging sometimes make you nervous/scared/vulnerable?

  1. aw annabel! you're so pretty, you shouldn't be scared about showing your face! i'm so un-photogenic, i normally end up having to take over 30 shots before i find one thats good enough for my posts. i'm sure once you start doing it more often you wouldn't feel so self-conscious. i know theres all sorts of horrible people out there but in general the beauty community is very supportive. if you're posting about a lipstick they're more likely to comment on it's colour rather than anything else about your face. now get taking some pics ;) xx

  2. i feel the same way sometimes, i lack confidence in showing a lot of myself on my blog. But you shouldn't feel like you have to, if you don't want to :) it's your blog and it's your choice what you do with it. i bet secretly your like a massive stunner and don't want to do it because you will put us all to shame!

I love your blog and your pretty face just the way it is :)

  3. Ahah I know this particular feeling, I am always nervous when I am blogging or writing a review! I don't love to share my face in the web, I prefer to share only make-up product, not me :)

    1. I'd just like some more confidence in all areas really, and maybe this is a place to start! :)
You of course don't have to share anything you don't want too :)

  4. you're a nut! you're absolutely beautiful! nobody would EVER post rudely about a spot or freckle in a makeup review (and if they happened to, you'd have a slew of girls defending you). I've always had an issue with photos myself, and most people look better in their true 3D appearance, but confidence is something you absolutely would have, just look at you!
